A 35-year-old mother of two plunged from the 36th floor of The Brittany, an elite apartment complex on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, New York City. The event occurred on Thursday, December 14, 2023.
According to officials, Alina Page had an argument with her husband, Brian Page, just before her fall, focusing on her drinking habits. Brian Page, an orthopedic surgeon, said he wasn’t present during the incident and chose not to comment on the specifics of their dispute.
Brian Page shared his anguish in a statement to The New York Post, calling his wife “the love of my life, my soulmate,” and stating his devastation. The incident happened shortly before their 16th wedding anniversary, which was 11 days away.
Alina Page was discovered at the junction of York Avenue and East 92nd Street around 6:45 p.m. with injuries typical of a long fall. She was immediately taken to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in a critical state and later died from her injuries.
Residents and those familiar with The Brittany, known for its comprehensive safety features such as a rooftop railing around four feet high and child-safe windows, spoke of the building’s security measures. The building is also renowned for its scenic views of the East and Harlem Rivers and is situated a short distance from Gracie Mansion, the New York City mayor’s residence.
The Pages had moved from Temple, Texas, to New York City in 2021. Alina Page, hailing from Russia, often posted cheerful images on Facebook with her young children, depicting a seemingly happy family life.
The nature of Alina Page’s death is still under investigation by the New York Police Department, which has not yet determined it to be a suicide.
