Southeast patrol officers spotted a stolen vehicle in the vicinity of the Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) and Park Place Boulevard.
When the officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver of the vehicle, a 19-year-old male, initiated a high-speed chase by fleeing from the police.
The pursuit ended when the driver lost control of the vehicle, resulting in it striking a barrier. The impact caused the car to roll over multiple times.

The identities of the deceased have been withheld pending notification of their families by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
In the aftermath of the crash, two additional passengers in the car, a male aged 18 in the front seat and a 16-year-old female seated in the rear right survived the incident. They were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, with their injuries reported to be non life-threatening.
Assistant Chief Kevin Deese of the HPD confirmed that no other vehicles were involved in the crash. He emphasized that the investigation is in its early stages and that the high speed involved in the incident is a significant factor under consideration.
The freeway ramp where the crash occurred was closed for several hours as part of the ongoing investigation.
This incident highlights the dangers associated with high-speed pursuits and the devastating consequences that can result. The HPD’s policies regarding vehicle pursuits are likely to be scrutinized in the aftermath of this incident.
