On January 25, 2024, a man and a woman, both aged 34, were found deceased in their Park Slope, Brooklyn, New York City apartment due to fatal gunshot wounds to their heads.
The incident occurred in an apartment block situated at the junction of 2nd Street and 5th Avenue. Authorities are treating the case as a potential murder-suicide.
The deceased individuals were identified as Jason Jackson and his 34-year-old female partner, both confirmed to be in a romantic relationship by the New York Police Department (NYPD). They were declared dead at the scene.
According to the initial report by law enforcement, it appears that Jackson’s gunshot wound was self-inflicted. Evidence of a black handgun found in close proximity to his body supports this theory.
The grim discovery was made after family members, concerned about not receiving any communication from one of the victims, hired a locksmith to access the apartment. They were met with a horrifying sight upon entry.
Jason Jackson, who was well-known in the local community as a singer, songwriter, and chef, was fondly remembered by his brother, Foster Jackson. He recalled Jason’s angelic voice and described him as a well-liked individual in the neighborhood.
Jerome, a childhood friend of Jackson, echoed these sentiments, expressing his shock and devastation at the news. He recollected Jackson as an attractive, humorous individual and emphasized the significant impact of this incident on both families as well as the Park Slope community.
NYPD officers and homicide detectives arrived later in the morning to conduct a preliminary investigation. However, they did not disclose additional details to the media.
The investigation into this case continues to be in progress.
