Born on January 2, 1990, in Havana, Cuba, Gonzalez emerged as a formidable force in judo, a discipline she mastered both as a martial art and Olympic sport.

Her international acclaim was solidified when she became the Pan American Champion in 2013 and 2014, competing in the women’s 63kg category, equivalent to 139 pounds.

The Manuel Fajardo Cuban Sports University, where Gonzalez was a prominent figure, announced her death on Facebook. The post conveyed deep sorrow and extended condolences to her friends, family, and colleagues.

Reports suggest that complications following a breast enlargement surgery on January 21, 2024, might have led to her heart attack.
