A 30-year-old mother of four was fatally shot in a McDonald’s restaurant on Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard In southwest Atlanta, Georgia, on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.

The incident, which police say occurred around 3 p.m., was the result of an argument between the victim, Tamanika Woods, and 19-year-old T’Niya Evans, leading to Woods being shot.

Atlanta Police Lieutenant Germain Dearlove reported that the shooting stemmed from an escalating dispute between customers.

Although it remains unclear whether the incident took place inside or outside the fast-food establishment, witnesses reported that the suspect was detained by bystanders until law enforcement arrived.

Woods was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition, where she later died from her injuries.

Evans faces charges including murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and theft by receiving stolen property. She was booked into Fulton County Jail and denied bond at her first court appearance on Friday, December 29.

A close friend of Woods, who preferred to remain anonymous, spoke to the media about the profound impact of Woods’ death. Describing Woods as a humble, family-oriented woman, the friend recalled her as always being associated with good times and memories. The loss, she mentioned, has left many loved ones in deep sorrow.

Woods is survived by her four children, who will now be cared for by family members.
