A 33-year-old pizza deliveryman in West Palm Beach, Florida, was fatally shot during an attempted robbery while on the job.
The victim, Tommie Charles Anderson II, had only started working for Domino’s Pizza two days before the incident.
On January 9, 2024, following a successful delivery, Anderson was shot. The customer who had just received the pizza heard three gunshots immediately after the delivery and notified the police.
West Palm Beach police arrived at the scene around 12:50 p.m., finding Anderson on the ground with gunshot wounds to his neck and arm. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead approximately an hour later.
A white Honda four-door vehicle was seen on surveillance footage approaching the delivery car. The vehicle was later found by the Florida Highway Patrol in West Palm Beach, with three suspects inside: Elijsha Wingfield, 25, Avianna Kerr Williams, 25, and Marcus Williams, 29. Two rifles and a 9mm pistol were also found in the car.
Wingfield confessed to the shooting, citing a desperate financial situation as he was waiting for an overdue paycheck. He claimed that he shot Anderson, despite Anderson raising his hands in surrender, out of fear that Anderson was reaching for a weapon.
Marcus Williams, another armed suspect at the scene, stated he chose not to fire his weapon upon realizing Anderson was unarmed.
The loss of Anderson, a father of two, has deeply impacted his family. His father, Tommie Anderson Jr., expressed immense sorrow over the loss of his son.
Anderson was known as a devoted father who worked two jobs in an effort to support his six and 13-year-old children.
The three suspects are now facing first-degree murder charges and are currently detained without the possibility of bail.
