Famed Movie Star Dies at 85

Renowned actress Anne Whitfield, known for her star role in the 1954 film “White Christmas” and later her environmental activism, died at 85 due to an accident.

Whitfield, born on August 27, 1938, in Oxford, Mississippi, embarked on her acting career when she was four years old. Her early years were spent in radio, honing her skills before transitioning to film and television. Her breakout role was in “White Christmas,” which brought her fame at just 15 years old. This marked the start of a long and successful career.

Beyond her acting career, Whitfield was deeply involved in environmental and social justice issues. After Hollywood, she pursued a bachelor’s degree from Evergreen State College and served as a clean water steward at the Washington State Department of Ecology.
