Melanie Brown, 48, better known as Mel B, sparked widespread speculation about the iconic 1990s girl group Spice Girls’ next big project during her appearance on “Today With Hoda & Jenna” on Monday, March 25.

The British pop star hinted at exciting developments for the band, much to the delight of fans eagerly awaiting news of a reunion.

During the segment, co-host Jenna Bush Hager prodded Brown for details on the rumored reunion, to which Brown responded with a mix of excitement and caution, acknowledging her reputation within the group as the “blabbermouth.”

Despite her reluctance, Brown teased that all five members, including herself, Emma Bunton, 48, Victoria Beckham, 49, Melanie Chisholm, 50, and Geri Halliwell, 51, are collaborating on an undisclosed project slated for an imminent announcement. This revelation comes on the heels of the Spice Girls’ last reunion for a UK tour in 2019, a venture that saw all but Beckham taking the stage.

The conversation took a playful turn when Bush Hager referenced *NSYNC’s recent reunion as part of Justin Timberlake’s new album release, pressing Brown for more information. Overcome by the moment, Brown inadvertently let slip that fans “are going to be able to” see the Spice Girls in action once again, before abruptly leaving the set in a humorous attempt to dodge further questioning.

This incident marks the second time a pop star has made an unexpected exit from the “Today” show this year, following Kelly Rowland’s departure over dissatisfaction with her dressing room accommodations. However, Brown’s departure was met with laughter and speculation rather than controversy, with co-hosts Kotb and Bush Hager playfully suggesting that a tour might be on the horizon.

The Spice Girls, who first auditioned for the group 30 years ago, have left an indelible mark on pop culture with hits like “Wannabe” and “Say You’ll Be There.” Their message of female empowerment and friendship has resonated with fans around the world, making any hint of a reunion or new project a significant event in the music industry.

While details remain scarce, Brown’s previous appearances on “Today With Hoda & Jenna” and other platforms have consistently hinted at something major in the works for the Spice Girls. In interviews throughout 2023, she emphasized that the group was preparing a “gift that keeps on giving,” fueling speculation about a comprehensive tour that would include all original members, a feat not achieved since their 2019 UK tour, which Beckham opted out of.

The Spice Girls’ journey from a global phenomenon in the ’90s to enduring icons of pop has been marked by individual successes, brief reunions, and constant media attention.

While the exact nature of the Spice Girls’ upcoming project remains under wraps, Mel B’s playful yet revealing comments have set the stage for what promises to be a significant announcement.
