In an unfortunate event in Limeira, São Paulo, Brazil, Elisangela Gazano, a 38-year-old woman, lost her life in an accident that occurred during her wedding celebration.
Gazano, who had married her partner a day prior to the unfortunate event, was celebrating both her wedding and her daughter’s birthday at a rented country house. While dancing, she accidentally fell into a swimming pool.
On the sunny afternoon of April 14, 2024, Gazano, who could not swim, was seen dancing near the pool when she lost her balance and fell into the water. This led to a swift and urgent response from the guests present, who tried to rescue her from the pool.
Despite the immediate response of the guests present and the prompt arrival of emergency services, Gazano, a mother of five, suffered a cardiac arrest while in transit to the hospital. Upon arrival at the hospital, she was declared dead.
Photos shared by Gazano hours before the incident depicted her in her white wedding dress, signing the marriage documents. These moments, shared on social media to celebrate her happiness, became a stark contrast to the tragic end of the day.
Flavia Silva, a friend of the bride, shared her grief on social media: “I saw you recently at the market, so excited about your wedding. It’s heartbreaking how quickly joy turned to sorrow on the same day. Wherever you are now, I want you to know it was a privilege to have known you.”
The police in Limeira have ruled Gazano’s death as an accident. This has not lessened the shock among her family and friends, who recall her as a lively and joyful individual. One of her friends remarked, “Your joy was contagious, your laughter was the best, and when you put it together with mine, everyone stopped to look at you.”
Elisangela Gazano’s funeral took place on Tuesday, April 16.
