Three men, identified as brothers Callum Robinson and Jake Robinson, and their friend Jack Carter Rhoad, undertook a journey to Baja California, Mexico, following their attendance at the Coachella music festival. They were declared missing after failing to arrive at their booked Airbnb accommodation in Rosarito.

Mexican law enforcement officials discovered their remains, with gunshot wounds, at the base of a 50-foot well situated in a remote location. The trio is believed to have been victims of a carjacking, followed by a lethal attack. Three individuals, comprising a local man, his girlfriend, and his brother, have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The apprehended suspects were found in possession of methamphetamine, and one of them had a cell phone that belonged to one of the victims. The victims are thought to have been camping at La Bocana, a popular surfing destination located approximately 130 miles south of San Diego, California.

Evidence collected by the authorities indicates that the victims attempted to resist the robbery, which likely led to their tragic deaths. Abandoned tents and a torched white pick-up truck, resembling the one used by the victims, were discovered in the vicinity.

While the Mexican authorities have not yet officially confirmed the identities of the victims, multiple sources have recognized the bodies. The victims were Australians Callum Robinson, 33, who was a former lacrosse player, and his brother Jake, 30, who was due to start a new job in Australia, and American Jack Carter Rhoad, 30.

The investigation is currently in progress, with local authorities cooperating with international agencies, including the FBI. Another body retrieved from the well is thought to belong to a rancher who had previously been reported missing.

The devastating loss of the three friends has left their families in mourning, with tributes flowing in from across the globe. The case is being closely monitored by the surfing community, as well as officials from the US and Australia. This unfortunate incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential risks that can be encountered when traveling overseas.
