A British father from Wales allegedly punched and killed a drunk Russian man who flirted with his 15-year-old daughter in Thailand. The 34-year-old father, known as “Mr Ricky,” reportedly punched the man in the face after he told the teen that he wanted to “fool around” with her.
The incident occurred at a pool villa party in Pattaya during the early hours of Monday, May 27, 2024. The Russian businessman, identified as 36-year-old Igor Yasilyev, who was reportedly intoxicated, is said to have made inappropriate comments to the girl. The father allegedly struck him, causing Yasilyev to fall and hit his head on the ground.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 3:16 a.m., finding Yasilyev unconscious with blood pooling around his head. He was transported to Bangkok Hospital Pattaya but later died from his injuries.
“I never imagined my punch would result in the man’s death. I deeply regret my actions,” the Welshman stated. His Thai wife, who had left the party earlier, returned to find her husband walking outside the villa. She reported that her husband informed her the Russian man had sexually harassed their daughter, which led to the altercation.
“They were drinking together peacefully until a dispute erupted. I wasn’t aware of the man’s nationality, but he punched [Yasilyev], causing him to hit his head on the ground. I was so shocked because there was a lot of blood,” his wife added.
The Welshman and Yasilyev had met for the first time at the party. A Foreign Office spokesman confirmed they are contacting Thai authorities regarding the British national’s arrest.
The Sun has withheld the names of those involved to protect the teen’s identity. Lt. Col. Nawin Thirawit, superintendent of the Pattaya City Police Station, confirmed that an arrest warrant was issued for the British man. He was held at the Pattaya Police Station to face legal proceedings.
Pattaya, known for its nightlife and red-light district, attracts many tourists, including Brits. In a separate incident, a British tourist was recently kicked in the head by a bouncer at a bar in Pattaya, leaving him in a coma. The tourist and his friends had reportedly accused the bar staff of inflating their bill, leading to a violent confrontation captured on video.
