On June 4, the Washoe County (Nevada) Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man found dead in a creek near Caughlin Ranch Parkway almost two weeks prior as 29-year-old Pavel Zubov, a resident of Reno. Zubov’s body was discovered on May 28, 2024 near Buckaroo Circle and Caughlin Ranch Parkway at approximately 8:30 a.m.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office and the Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority (REMSA) responded to the scene after receiving a medical call about a person found in the creek. First responders confirmed Zubov was deceased.
The circumstances surrounding Zubov’s death are currently under thorough investigation by the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office. Law enforcement officials have assured the public that this incident appears isolated. “There is no ongoing threat to the community related to this case,” said a Washoe County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson.
The discovery of Pavel Zubov’s body has left the local community with questions and concerns. Residents of the Caughlin Ranch area, who often enjoy the natural beauty and tranquility of the creek near Buckaroo Circle, are particularly affected.
Authorities are encouraging anyone with information related to Zubov’s movements in the days before May 28 to come forward.

Another body discovered in the Truckee River at Rock Park has been identified. The Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that 38-year-old Aaron Barker was seen by a passerby on May 29th. Around 5:07 p.m. emergency teams in Sparks pulled Barker’s body from the river near Rock Boulevard and Mill Street.The cause and manner of Barker’s death are still under investigation.
