Jennifer Lopez was spotted enjoying a getaway in Positano, Italy this week without her husband Ben Affleck, fueling rumors that the power couple’s marriage is on the rocks.
The 54-year-old singer and actress was photographed at a hotel in the picturesque cliffside village on the Amalfi Coast on Wednesday, June 19. She was seen walking with a few friends through rows of sun loungers and down a flight of stairs toward the water, where they eventually boarded a boat.
Lopez showcased her toned figure in a tiny yellow bandeau top paired with matching printed shorts and a shirt. She appeared to be in good spirits, looking relaxed, glowing and sun-kissed during the Italian vacation.
However, the “Marry Me” star’s solo trip comes amid increasing signs that her marriage to Affleck, 51, is in trouble. The couple, who tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in July 2022 after rekindling their early 2000s romance, have reportedly been living separate lives in recent months.
“They are living separately and operating independently,” a source close to the couple told Entertainment Tonight. “They are aware of the issues in their relationship and are desperately trying to save their marriage, but it is simply not working at this point.”
Another insider told the Daily Mail that Lopez feels she has “had enough” and has “tried but she can do no more” to salvage the relationship. “She wants this marriage to work so much that she is willing to make any sacrifice including giving up being J.Lo,” the friend said. “She doesn’t want to be divorced. She doesn’t want to end up like Madonna—on her own at 60.”
Affleck was noticeably absent from Lopez’s side at the recent Met Gala in New York City, and reports emerged that he had already moved out of their shared home. The couple was later photographed arriving separately at Affleck’s son’s graduation ceremony and showing little affection towards each other.
In a further sign of marital woes, Affleck and Lopez are allegedly trying to quietly sell their $60 million mansion in Beverly Hills, California, which they purchased together just last year. The actor has been staying at a rental property in Brentwood while house hunting on his own.
Despite the apparent troubles, Lopez paid tribute to Affleck on Father’s Day, sharing a photo of him from the movie “Pearl Harbor” on her Instagram Story and calling him “Our Hero.” Affleck, meanwhile, spent the holiday with his three children from his previous marriage to actress Jennifer Garner.
Sources say Affleck, who has been open about his struggles with alcoholism, is committed to staying sober and prioritizing his health.
“The divorce is happening,” the source added, as Affleck is telling friends that “he’s looking forward to the next chapter. He wants a life with serenity and peace, and escaping this roller coaster will be a relief.”
Lopez, for her part, is said to be focusing on her 16-year-old twins, Max and Emme, from her previous relationship with singer Marc Anthony, as well as her career. The “Let’s Get Loud” hitmaker recently announced that she was canceling her upcoming tour to spend more time with her family and friends.
