Fifteen-year-old Ahliana Dickey was tragically shot and killed in her Lowell, Massachusetts home just hours before her middle school graduation. Her ex-boyfriend, 21-year-old Trevor Bady, has been charged with her murder and several related offenses.
On June 14, 2024, Dickey was set to celebrate her eighth-grade graduation. When she failed to show up for the ceremony, her grandmother went to her Lawrence Street home and found her with gunshot wounds. Police confirmed her death on the scene, discovering multiple shell casings.
Earlier that night, police responded to reports of a fight between a male and a female outside the home. Witnesses reported hearing a girl shout, “Get off me, leave me alone; I don’t want to be with you anymore,” followed by the sound of gunshots. Despite searching, officers could not find the individuals involved at that time.
Bady, who had a history of abusing and threatening Dickey, was allegedly seen on video leaving her home shortly after midnight. He had taken an Uber to and from the location, with the driver noting his suspicious behavior. Two days prior, Dickey confided in someone that Bady had threatened to kill her and her grandmother and to “shoot up her house.”
Skyla Guthrie, a friend of Dickey, said, “She was a positive person. When I was down, she’d bring me up. She wanted to do bright things in life.”
Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan confirmed that Bady, of Tewksbury, was arrested without incident at a residence in Peabody, approximately 30 miles southeast of Lowell. He faces charges of murder, armed home invasion, and unlawful possession of a firearm, among others. He entered a plea of not guilty and is being detained without bail. His next court date is set for July 30.
Dickey’s family has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover funeral expenses and support the family. The page has raised over $12,000 so far, and the community has shown strong support during this difficult time.
An autopsy revealed multiple gunshot wounds, including to her neck and torso. Authorities are still investigating the case, highlighting Bady’s prior arrests, including an incident where he allegedly fired a shot at a man, which was later dismissed due to lack of prosecution.
