The bitter legal feud between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt has reached new heights as Jolie implores Pitt to drop his multimillion-dollar lawsuit against her.
The dispute, which has dragged on since February 2022, centers on the sale of Jolie’s shares in the Chateau Miraval winery. Pitt claims Jolie sold her interest without his consent, violating a verbal agreement to allow him to buy her out.
Jolie’s legal team contends she offered the shares to Pitt first but was met with last-minute restrictive conditions, including a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) that she found unacceptable.
Jolie’s recent court motion aims to compel Pitt to disclose communications related to a 2016 plane incident involving their son, Maddox. Her lawyer, Paul Murphy, emphasized Jolie’s plea for peace, stating, “While Angelina again asks Mr. Pitt to end the fighting and finally put their family on a clear path toward healing, unless Mr. Pitt withdraws his lawsuit, Angelina has no choice but to obtain the evidence necessary to prove his allegations wrong.”
The couple’s relationship took a turn in 2016 during a private flight from France to California. According to an FBI report, Jolie accused Pitt of physically assaulting her, shaking her, and pouring beer on her while their children were present.
Jolie’s legal action seeks answers about why the FBI dropped its investigation into Pitt. A source close to Pitt claims the FBI report was available to both parties six years ago, calling Jolie’s recent action a “media stunt intended to inflict pain.”
Pitt’s legal team has dismissed Jolie’s request for his third-party communications as a “sensationalist fishing expedition.” They argue that the core of the legal battle revolves around business disputes concerning the winery and should not delve into family law matters. However, Jolie’s legal team maintains that the 2016 plane incident is central to their case. Murphy stated, “Pitt’s demand for an expansive NDA was a bid to punish and control Angelina and cover up his personal misconduct and abuse.”
In 2022, a holding company founded by Jolie, which she sold to an international beverage company, countersued Pitt for attempting to “usurp” power and obtain sole ownership of Chateau Miraval.
The legal battle over the winery is part of the broader divorce proceedings and custody battle that have plagued the former couple since their separation in 2016.
