A 17-year-old male has been arrested in connection with the murder of Trinity Bostic, a 17-year-old girl from Macon County, Tennessee who was reported missing last month. Bostic’s remains were discovered on July 3, 2024, by a Tennessee Department of Transportation subcontractor along a busy road in Hendersonville, Tennessee, approximately 45 miles from her home in Lafayette.
The Hendersonville Police Department announced the arrest of the suspect, who is from Westmoreland, Tennessee, on Saturday morning. He is now in custody at the Sumner County Detention Center, facing charges of first-degree murder. The suspect’s identity remains undisclosed because he is a minor. He went to school with Bostic and was in the same grade.
Bostic was reported missing on June 29 as a runaway, sparking concern and a search effort in the local community. According to a friend, Bostic had texted her that she was running away from home. Her remains were found by a worker picking up trash in a wood line near Vietnam Veterans Boulevard and New Shackle Island Road. The discovery shocked many residents in Hendersonville and the surrounding areas.
Sgt. Nicholas Edwards from the Hendersonville Police Department confirmed that the investigation into Bostic’s death is being treated as a homicide. “We suspected foul play from the beginning,” Edwards stated.
The police have not revealed additional information regarding the circumstances surrounding Bostic’s death or the events that transpired after she was reported missing. The cause of death is still unknown, pending an autopsy.
In a news release, the Hendersonville Police Department appealed to the public for assistance. “We are still gathering information and encourage anyone who knows anything about Trinity Bostic’s disappearance or death to contact us. Every piece of information is valuable,” the release read.
Bostic’s friends and family are devastated by her loss. Jaycee Meador and Khloe Redfield, Trinity’s friends, expressed their shock and sorrow upon learning of her death. “Trinity was the light of our lives. She was kind, caring, and had so much potential. It’s heartbreaking to think she’s gone,” said Jaycee. Khloe added, “We can’t believe this happened to her. She didn’t deserve this. We hope justice will be served.”
The news of the arrest brings relief and sadness to the community. Many residents have expressed their hope that this arrest will lead to more answers and justice for Trinity. The case has received widespread attention, emphasizing the critical role of community support and alertness in these tragic situations.
In addition to seeking justice, Bostic’s friends and classmates have rallied to support her family. A GoFundMe campaign was launched to help cover funeral expenses. “I started it thinking it would not do that well, but it just started to blow up,” said Landon Connor, a classmate. “We’re hoping it continues to draw in money for the family.” The fundraising effort has generated over $12,000.
