In a surprising prediction, renowned royal biographer Hugo Vickers has claimed that Prince Harry might one day return to the UK permanently without his wife, Meghan Markle. Vickers, who co-authored Prince Edward’s memoir “A Royal Life,” described Prince Harry as an “angry” individual who is “petrified” of losing his wife.
Vickers believes King Charles III would welcome his son’s return, stating, “The King has left the door wide open for him to do that, and he was doing such a good job before and…he looked so happy.”
Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020 and relocating to the United States, Prince Harry and Meghan have only made a few trips back to the UK. Their last joint visit was for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022. According to Vickers, Harry’s return to the UK could be a welcome change, provided he returns alone. “If he comes home, we must be very nice to him because he won’t particularly want to,” Vickers remarked, emphasizing the importance of a warm reception for Harry.
Grant Harrold, a former royal butler who served King Charles, echoed similar sentiments. Harrold believes that for Prince Harry, 39, to be accepted back into the royal fold, a public apology for the hurt caused by his tell-all memoir, “Spare,” would be necessary. Harrold stated, “The only way I see this happening is a public acknowledgment from Harry, where he says that he’s sorry for the hurt that the book created.”
Another royal expert, Jennie Bond, suggested that Prince Harry could eventually be forgiven and welcomed back into the royal family, but this reconciliation would likely require a separation from Meghan. “I think that Harry, without Meghan, would be forgiven and welcomed back into the royal fold in the fullness of time,” Bond said.
During his recent solo visit to the UK for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, Prince Harry expressed his hope to see his father soon, though their schedules did not align for a meeting. Meghan, 42, who has not been in the UK since the Queen’s funeral, opted to stay in the US with their children during this visit.
Despite these predictions, it remains uncertain how or when such a return might happen. The unresolved conflict between Prince Harry and the royal family, especially his brother Prince William, adds complexity to the situation. Harrold said, “Some hurtful remarks were made, and not all families know how to reconcile.”
