Ayres Sasaki, a 35-year-old musician from Brazil, tragically lost his life due to electrocution during a live performance. The unfortunate event took place on July 13 at the Solar Hotel in Salinópolis, Pará state, Brazil. Sasaki was electrocuted when he embraced a fan who was soaking wet, which resulted in a nearby cable discharging a deadly electric shock.

Several media outlets have suggested that Sasaki was strumming his guitar when the fatal accident occurred.

The incident is being thoroughly investigated by the Pará Civil Police. A representative from the police department informed Istoé Gente, “We are interviewing witnesses and have requested expert reports to determine the precise cause of the electrical discharge.”

The Solar Hotel released a statement on July 14, expressing their grief over the incident and their commitment to assist with the investigation. “We are fully dedicated to providing support to his family and taking the necessary measures. We reaffirm our commitment to fully cooperating with the competent authorities for the proper clarification of the events,” the hotel announced on its official Instagram account.

Sasaki’s aunt, Rita Matos, stated that the family is working to comprehend the events that unfolded during the performance. “We are contacting people who were with him at the moment to understand how everything happened. We will gather all the information in a statement that we will release to the press,” she told Istoé Gente.

The untimely death of Sasaki has caused a wave of sorrow among fans and fellow musicians. Filmmaker Raphael Macedo, a close friend of Sasaki, expressed his grief and recalled Sasaki’s vivacious personality and musical skills. “Ayres was more than just a talented musician; he was a joyful and kind friend. His loss is deeply felt by everyone who knew him,” Macedo said.

In addition to his musical career, Sasaki also worked as an architect and urban planner. He had been married to his wife, Mariana, for 11 months. Mariana thanked fans and friends for their support during this difficult time. “I am deeply touched by the messages of affection and comfort. Ayres was loved by many, and his music brought joy to countless people,” she posted on social media.

The management at the Solar Hotel has assured the public that they are taking appropriate measures to ensure the safety of their guests and prevent such incidences in the future.

This is not the first time a musician in Brazil has succumbed to a fatal on-stage electrocution. In 2023, Pedro Henrique, a Brazilian gospel singer, also died during a live performance in Feira de Santana. Henrique’s death, like Sasaki’s, was due to an accidental electrocution, underscoring the risks associated with live performances and electrical equipment.

As the investigation into Sasaki’s death continues, fans have taken to social media to remember the late singer. Sasaki’s official Instagram page has been flooded with messages of condolences and fond reminiscences of his performances. Sasaki is survived by his wife Mariana and other family members, who continue to receive comfort and support from fans and loved ones during this challenging time. The family has requested privacy as they grieve and await further information from the ongoing investigation.
