The popular podcast host Joe Rogan used his latest Netflix comedy special, “Burn the Boats,” to humorously criticize Prince Harry. The special, filmed live at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio, Texas, and made available to subscribers on August 3, 2024, marks Rogan’s return to stand-up after a six-year hiatus.
Rogan, 57, known for his unfiltered commentary, targeted Prince Harry over remarks the Duke of Sussex made in 2021 regarding COVID-19 misinformation. Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, had expressed concerns about spreading misinformation on Spotify, where Rogan’s podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” is hosted.
During his 77-minute show, Rogan shared how he came across Prince Harry criticizing him on television. He humorously mentioned that he had just woken up in his underwear and saw a prince on TV speaking negatively about him, which amused the audience. Rogan then questioned why people would seek his vaccine advice, explaining that his role is more about making provocative remarks than giving medical guidance.
Rogan’s special also featured a playful fantasy about tricking Prince Harry into taking psychedelic mushrooms. “Could you imagine doing mushrooms with Prince Harry?” Rogan mused, describing how he would confront the royal during the trip, saying, “Are you sure vaccines are safe? (Expletive), you’re not a scientist.”
Rogan’s jabs at Prince Harry extended to mocking the Duke’s British accent and questioning his expertise on medical matters. Rogan referenced Harry’s past admissions of drug use, including psychedelic mushrooms, detailed in his memoir “Spare.”
Rogan’s comedy special has already sparked debate online, with viewers divided over his controversial humor. The special is part of Rogan’s ongoing series with Netflix, following earlier releases “Triggered” and “Strange Times.” As “Burn the Boats” gains attention, it reinforces Rogan’s reputation for provocative, unfiltered comedy.
Despite the joking, Rogan says he holds no resentment toward the prince. “If I met that dude, I’d love to have a drink with him. I think if I met that dude, I’d say, ‘Man, I’m not mad at you,’ ” he said.
