Actor Kevin Spacey’s home has been sold, but he is refusing to hand over the keys.
Spacey refused to vacate his Baltimore, Maryland waterfront mansion after it was sold at a foreclosure auction. The 9,000-square-foot property, which he purchased in 2017 for $5.65 million, was auctioned off in July 2023 for $3.24 million to real estate investor Sam Asgari.
Asgari alleges that Spacey has demanded to stay in the house for six months rent-free. Despite ongoing attempts to negotiate with his legal team, Spacey remained entrenched in the property in mid-August 2024, refusing to leave.
The six-bedroom estate in Baltimore’s exclusive Inner Harbor area features a billiard room, home theater, chef’s kitchen, and a four-car garage. It was Spacey’s primary residence after being dismissed from his role on Netflix’s “House of Cards” in 2017 amid sexual assault allegations. His dismissal began a series of legal battles and financial struggles for the actor.
Spacey’s financial troubles culminated in his default on the property’s $20,230 monthly mortgage payments, leading to the foreclosure auction. In an emotional interview with Piers Morgan in June 2024, Spacey revealed his mounting debts, stating, “I’ve lost everything.”
Despite the sale, the court must still ratify the auction before legal ownership transfers to Asgari. If Spacey refuses to vacate, Asgari may pursue eviction with the help of local authorities. Spacey’s legal team has denied Asgari’s claims, stating that the accusations are unfounded.
The foreclosure is the latest setback for Spacey, who has been facing ongoing legal battles related to multiple sexual misconduct allegations. While Spacey was acquitted in 2023 of charges in London, his financial situation remains precarious, forcing him to put his central London penthouse on the market for $3.8 million.
As the legal process unfolds, Asgari remains optimistic that the situation can be resolved amicably. However, the unresolved negotiations mean the standoff between the embattled actor and the real estate investor continues. For now, Spacey’s future in the luxury Baltimore mansion remains uncertain.
