Trump’s Bizarre Response To Swift’s Endorsement

On September 11, Donald Trump, the former president, expressed disapproval over popular singer Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris. Instead, he voiced his preference for Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, based in Kansas City, Missouri.

During an early morning interview on “Fox & Friends,” a program on Fox News, Trump, aged 78, was questioned about Swift’s recent support for Harris. “I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better, if you want to know the truth. She’s a big Trump fan,” was Trump’s response.

Ex-president Trump further expanded on his views about Brittany Mahomes. He stated, “I like Brittany. I think Brittany’s great. She’s a big, she’s a big MAGA fan. Much better than Taylor Swift.”

On Sunday, September 15, Trump emphasized his anger and dislike for Taylor Swift in another post:

“I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Trump’s remarks were made following Brittany Mahomes’ recent headline-making engagement with one of his Instagram posts. The post, outlining his “2024 GOP Platform,” reportedly included pledges like keeping “men OUT of women’s sports” and withdrawing federal funding from schools teaching “Critical Race Theory” and “Radical Gender Ideology.”

Mahomes reacted to Swift’s fans’ backlash on her Instagram Story. She wrote that those “haters” must have “deep rooted issues,” and that it’s possible to “disagree with someone, and still love them.” She subsequently removed her ‘like’ from Trump’s post and presently does not follow him on Instagram.

Trump also suggested that Swift’s support for Harris could potentially impact the singer’s finances negatively.

Following the recent debate between Trump and Harris, Swift, 34, announced her support for the vice president on Instagram. Swift wrote, “I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.” She expressed her belief in Harris as a “steady-handed, gifted leader” and her conviction that the country could achieve more under calm leadership rather than chaos.

This is not Swift’s first time publicly backing Democratic candidates. In the 2020 elections, she supported Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for president and vice president, respectively. She has also endorsed other Democratic candidates in past elections.

J.D. Vance, Trump’s running mate, also commented on Swift’s endorsement, arguing that Americans are unlikely to be swayed by a “billionaire celebrity” like Swift, who he described as being “disconnected from the interests and the problems of most Americans.”

Speculation has arisen about a possible rift between Brittany Mahomes and Taylor Swift due to this political disagreement, especially since they have been seen together at sporting events and are known to be friends through their NFL connections; Swift is dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. However, recent sightings of the two together indicate that their friendship remains strong, despite these political differences.

Patrick Mahomes, the NFL quarterback, has announced that he will not be endorsing any presidential candidate this year, preferring to keep his social media platform neutral.

With public figures increasingly voicing their political leanings, the influence of these endorsements on voter behavior continues to be a subject of discussion and debate.
