Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is once again at the center of controversy after launching a vile social media attack on Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and singer-songwriter Taylor Swift.
Brown, known for his extraordinary on-field talent and a career marred by off-field incidents, took to “X” following the Chiefs’ recent game against the Los Angeles Chargers on September 29. The nature of his comments was not only offensive but has also sparked significant backlash from fans of both Kelce and Swift.
Brown’s post targeted Kelce’s relationship with Swift, using misogynistic and racially charged language. In his tweet, Brown stated, “Travis Kelce needs some black(expletive). That bro washed,” insinuating that Kelce’s personal life affected his performance on the field.
The comment drew immediate and widespread outrage, particularly from Swift’s passionate fanbase, known as “Swifties.”
This isn’t the first time Brown has attacked Swift on social media. Earlier this year, Brown posted an AI-generated image of himself kissing Swift, further fueling his bizarre obsession with the pop star. His latest attack, however, appears to have crossed a line with many, as fans quickly condemned the post for reducing women to body parts. One fan remarked, “You could’ve simply said he needs a black woman.” Swifties flocked to social media to express their dismay, with one fan tweeting, “ppl need to stop being so hateful,” a sentiment echoed by many others who found Brown’s comments deeply inappropriate.
The post also reignited concerns about Brown’s behavior since retiring from the NFL. Despite his remarkable career, Brown has faced numerous legal issues, accusations of abusive behavior, and erratic public appearances, all of which have overshadowed his football legacy.
Brown, however, did not apologize for his remarks. Instead, he appeared to embrace the controversy, tagging a news article about the situation with the caption, “N— of the Day #CTESPN.” This inflammatory comment only fueled the backlash further, as fans and critics condemned his continued offensive behavior.
Kelce, for his part, has not responded publicly to Brown’s comments. The Chiefs’ tight end, who recently broke the team record for most career receptions, has been praised by his teammates and coaches for his performance despite a slightly slower start to the season. In the Chiefs’ win over the Chargers, Kelce recorded seven receptions for 89 yards, a notable improvement in his statistics.
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift has also remained silent on the issue, though her absence from recent Chiefs games has sparked speculation about her relationship with Kelce. Media reports suggest that Swift’s absence is due to her busy schedule preparing for the next leg of her Eras Tour and heightened security concerns following a foiled terror attack in Vienna, Austria earlier this year.
As Brown continues to stir controversy, his post-NFL life remains troubled. Despite earning over $88 million during his football career, Brown filed for bankruptcy earlier this year, claiming to have only $50,000 in assets. He has also been involved in multiple legal battles, including accusations of domestic violence and failure to pay child support.
