Elderly Woman Beheaded: Plummets From High-Rise Building

A woman, 81, tragically lost her life on Saturday, October 12, 2024, in a shocking incident when she fell or jumped from a luxury high-rise in Manhattan, New York City. The horrifying incident took place in front of a wedding party at a nearby church.

The woman fell from the 28th floor of Park Regis Apartments, a high-end residential building located on the Upper East Side. The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. The woman was gruesomely decapitated, and one of her arms was severed as her body hit an object on the side of the tower during the fall, leaving a disturbing sight for those on the ground.

Witnesses attending a wedding ceremony at a Carnegie Hill church nearby were shocked to see the woman’s body fall. “I pulled up just as she was lying there; she had no head. “Her body landed there but her head and leg hit the fence there, you can see it’s bent, there were clothes and blood stuck there.” a resident of the building told the New York Post. Another witness added, “Everyone started rushing towards the body, but she was gone.”

The woman’s identity was not revealed as the police were in the process of informing her family. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, according to the NYPD statement, will be determining the official cause of death. Preliminary reports, however, suggest that the woman’s tragic fall was an apparent suicide.

Established in 1974, Park Regis Apartments is a 33-story cooperative residential building that offers services akin to a private hotel. It provides amenities such as a gym, on-site garage, laundry facilities, and bicycle storage for its residents. The building is situated near cultural landmarks such as Museum Mile and Central Park.

This unfortunate incident is the second fatal fall from a Manhattan high-rise in recent months. In July, J. Michael Cline, 64, co-founder of Fandango, jumped to his death from the 20th floor of The Kimberly Hotel in Midtown Manhattan. Cline was reportedly struggling with business problems in the movie ticketing industry due to the pandemic.

The NYPD has not released any information about what may have led the elderly woman to take her life, stating that the investigation is still ongoing and no additional details are currently available.
