Actor Zachary Levi, famous for his role in Shazam!, publicly endorsed former President Donald Trump during an event in Michigan on Saturday, September 28. Levi, who shared the stage with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard, acknowledged that his support for Trump could be a risky move in Hollywood, a predominantly liberal industry. During the event, Levi described his decision as potential “career suicide” but said he was willing to stand by it.
“We have two choices, and I believe Donald Trump, President Trump, is the man that can get us there,” Levi said, aligning himself with the former president in the lead-up to the 2024 election. He credited the influence of Gabbard and Kennedy for helping solidify his decision, saying, “He’s going to get us there because he’s going to have the backing and support and the wisdom of people like Robert Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard.”
Levi revealed that 90 percent of the messages he received after endorsing Trump had been positive. “The messages that I received have actually been quite lovely and supportive,” he said, adding that he was heartened by the reception from his fans, even though he expected some backlash within the industry.
The Shazam! actor had previously expressed his support for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in the 2024 race, and his decision to back Trump came after Kennedy suspended his presidential campaign. Reflecting on this shift, Levi explained that, in an ideal situation, he would have preferred Kennedy as the candidate. “In a perfect world… perhaps I would have voted for Bobby,” Levi remarked. However, after Kennedy’s exit, he felt compelled to support Trump as the only viable option left to “take back this country.”
He expressed deep concerns about the state of the nation, saying that the country had been “hijacked” and was heading in a dangerous direction. His comments reflected a broader disillusionment with government and institutional power, sentiments that have resonated with many conservatives, especially Trump supporters. Levi’s political views, while uncommon in the entertainment industry, are not new to his public persona.
Levi has faced criticism in the past for his outspoken views, particularly surrounding public health and government oversight. In January 2023, he ignited a social media firestorm after retweeting a post questioning the trustworthiness of Pfizer, the pharmaceutical company behind one of the COVID-19 vaccines. Levi agreed with the tweet, stating “Hardcore agree,” which led to significant backlash.
At the Michigan event, Levi reiterated his distrust of both the pharmaceutical industry and mainstream media. He spoke at length about how Americans are “being poisoned and lied to” by institutions that control the narrative in the media and in government. He expressed frustration with what he sees as manipulation through food, pharmaceuticals, and the media, warning that citizens must remain vigilant.
“We are being poisoned and lied to, not just in the foods that we’re eating or the pharmaceuticals that are being shoved down our throats, but in the media that we’re consuming,” Levi said, arguing that the public is being misled on multiple fronts.
Levi’s final message to his supporters was to avoid engaging in political hatred and negativity. “Do not be baited into their hate,” he cautioned, suggesting that divisive tactics only serve to further polarize the nation. He urged his audience to focus on practicing patience, grace, and forgiveness as the country heads toward the 2024 election.
As one of the few high-profile figures in the entertainment industry to openly support Trump, Levi’s political stance sets him apart from his peers. Whether his prediction of “career suicide” comes true remains to be seen, but Levi appears undeterred, standing by his choice and encouraging others to vote for what they believe is right.
