Woman Killed By Pet Pit Bull

A 73-year-old Boston, Massachusetts woman was killed Monday when her pet pit bull attacked her outside her Roxbury home, leaving her husband and two police officers injured in the violent incident.

Jeriline Brady-McGinnis succumbed to her injuries during surgery after the attack, which occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Dennison Street. The dog, identified as a pit bull mix named Deuce, also attacked Brady-McGinnis’ husband as he attempted to intervene, and later injured two responding Boston Police officers.

Police were forced to fire three shots at the dog during the incident. The injured animal was later euthanized due to its “worsening condition and poor prognosis,” according to animal control officials.

Brady-McGinnis’s three sons, Chris, Ronald, and Donald, remembered their mother as a loving and caring person who prioritized her children. “She was the heart and soul of our family,” they said in a statement.

According to a neighbor, Brady-McGinnis regularly cooked dinner for her pets and treated them with special care.

The incident has raised concerns among neighbors, who reported being fearful of the four dogs kept at the residence. The animals were typically kept in cages and were known for frequent, loud barking.

Following the attack, Boston Animal Control removed three additional pit bull mix dogs from the property. These animals are currently under supervision by the city’s veterinary medical director.

The Boston Police homicide unit is investigating the incident due to the severity of the injuries. Brady-McGinnis’s husband and the two responding officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to recover.
