A confrontation over photographs took a deadly turn in Sanford, Florida, on November 5, 2024, resulting in the shooting death of photographer Lauren Ashley Martin, 34. The tragic incident was partially live-streamed on social media, drawing widespread attention and leading to the arrests of two women allegedly involved in the altercation.
Police charged 35-year-old Savon Chantay Tyler with first-degree premeditated murder in Martin’s death. Tyler’s girlfriend, 31-year-old Lakevia Davonna Pringle, also faces charges as principal to first-degree premeditated murder for allegedly encouraging and live-streaming the violence.
Sanford police reported that Martin and Tyler had been involved in a longstanding feud. The night of the shooting, Martin reportedly live-streamed her drive to Tyler’s home with the intent to confront her, as detailed in an amended arrest report for Tyler. The dispute intensified when Tyler came out of her home with both a child’s baseball bat and a firearm.
Pringle also streamed the altercation on social media, allegedly encouraging Tyler’s aggressive actions. As the fight started between the victim and the suspect, Martin managed to grab the bat at one moment. Tyler then allegedly picked up the gun and shot Martin, according to the affidavit referenced by local media.
The police report outlines Pringle’s role, indicating that she was deeply involved in the homicide by recording the incident and encouraging the confrontation that eventually resulted in the victim’s death.
Law enforcement officials received multiple emergency calls reporting gunfire in the neighborhood. Emergency responders found Martin lying in the street with several gunshot wounds. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Following the incident, Tyler surrendered to police without resistance and is being held without bond at the Seminole County Jail. Pringle, who was initially at large, was apprehended by authorities shortly afterward. Both women now face serious charges as the investigation continues.
In the wake of the death of 34-year-old Martin, affectionately known as “Bubbles,” a GoFundMe campaign was established to support her three children and cover funeral expenses. The fundraiser, organized by Julia Smith-Ward, aims to assist the family during this challenging time. As of November 14, 2024, the campaign has raised $2,800, reflecting the community’s support and sympathy for the family’s loss.
The Sanford Police Department has urged anyone with further information to contact the department or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
