Trump Mocks Taylor Swift After Super Bowl Boos

President Donald Trump took to Truth Social on Sunday, February 9, 2025, to mock Taylor Swift after she was booed by some fans at the Caesars Superdome during Super Bowl LIX. The singer, attending the game to support her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, appeared on the jumbotron before kickoff and received a mixed reaction, including audible boos. Seated next to rapper Ice Spice, Swift responded with a side-eye and laughter.

Trump, who attended part of the game, reacted on Truth Social by mocking Swift’s reception. He claimed she had a “tougher night” than the Chiefs and was “BOOED out of the stadium,” emphasizing that “MAGA is very unforgiving.” To reinforce his point, he posted video clips comparing the cheers he received when shown during the national anthem to the crowd’s reaction toward Swift.

Earlier in the day, Trump appeared on Fox News, predicting a Chiefs victory while praising Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany Mahomes. He described the quarterback as “great” and called Brittany “phenomenal,” emphasizing that she was a “MAGA fan,” which, he noted, made him “love her.” He complimented her character, stating she was a “great person.”

Swift and Trump have had a contentious relationship, which escalated last year when Swift publicly endorsed former Vice President Kamala Harris for president. The endorsement came after Trump’s campaign circulated AI-generated deepfake images falsely suggesting Swift supported him. The singer condemned the photos, citing concerns over misinformation and artificial intelligence abuse.

Following Swift’s endorsement of Harris, Trump appeared on “Fox & Friends,” saying, “She seems to always endorse a Democrat, and she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.” Days later, he took a more direct approach, posting on Truth Social: “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”

Since her relationship with Kelce became public in September 2023, Swift’s frequent appearances at Chiefs games have sparked mixed reactions. While she has brought a wave of new fans—particularly women—to the NFL, many longtime fans have voiced frustration over the league’s consistent focus on her during broadcasts. Her presence at the Super Bowl was no exception, with Eagles fans dominating the stadium and possibly contributing to the booing.

Despite Trump’s claims that Swift was “booed out of the stadium,” she remained at the game until the end. Serena Williams later showed support for Swift on social media, posting: “I love you Taylor Swift, don’t listen to those booo!!”

The Super Bowl ended in a 40-22 victory for the Philadelphia Eagles, denying the Chiefs a historic three-peat. Mahomes, who threw for two touchdowns but also suffered two interceptions, called the loss the worst thing in the world.”

Trump, known for frequently criticizing sports regulations, aimed at the NFL’s kickoff rule, calling it the “worst part of the Super Bowl.” He argued that the play left the field “frozen, stiff” as the ball sailed through the air and contrasted it with college football, which, according to him, “does not do it and won’t.” He questioned the decision-making behind the rule change, suggesting it had “ruined the game.”

As the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl, Trump received a loud ovation when shown on the jumbotron during the national anthem. Conservative social media accounts quickly circulated clips comparing the crowd’s enthusiastic response to Trump with the boos directed at Swift.

One such post read: “Trump gets massive cheers at the Super Bowl while Taylor Swift gets booed. – The world is healing!”

While Trump praised Mahomes and even predicted a Chiefs victory, he took no issue mocking the team and Swift in his post-game reaction. His remarks added to the ongoing political and cultural divisions following Swift’s NFL appearances and her endorsement of Harris.

Swift has yet to respond publicly to Trump’s comments.
