Body of 7 Year Old Found in Freezer

Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies responding to a welfare check on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, discovered the body of a 7-year-old boy inside a freezer at a Lynwood apartment, launching a homicide investigation that resulted in the arrests of three family members.

Deputies arrived at the apartment building in the 3100 block of Euclid Avenue, near Santa Fe Avenue, shortly after 8:30 p.m., following a report of a dead child. Inside the residence, authorities made the grim discovery of the young boy’s body stored in a freezer. The child was pronounced dead at the scene.

The boy’s mother, 25-year-old Destiny Harrison, was arrested on suspicion of murder. His father, 25-year-old Daniel Monzon, and grandmother, 46-year-old Ana Zarceno-Carcamo, were taken into custody on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder. All three remain held on $2 million bail each. They were later formally charged with murder, torture and willful cruelty to a child.

The victim was identified as Isaiah H. in a statement released by the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office. Three additional children were found inside the home during the welfare check. The siblings, ages 9 months, 13, and 16, were removed from the residence and placed into protective custody by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services. The department will oversee their care while the investigation continues.

Christian Torres, a neighbor of the family, expressed shock at the arrest. Torres told reporters that Harrison gave no indication of any problems, stating that nothing seemed out of the ordinary with her behavior, and no one would have expected such an outcome.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn issued a statement following the discovery. “This is an unimaginable and horrific tragedy,” Hahn noted. She indicated she stands ready to support the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department as they investigate the child’s death, adding that her heart breaks for what the other children in the home must have experienced.

The arrests come amid growing concerns about child welfare in Los Angeles County. Law enforcement sources familiar with the case, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the ongoing investigation, confirmed the boy’s body had been stuffed into the freezer.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau are continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses as they work to establish a timeline of events leading to the boy’s death. Investigators are examining the circumstances that led to the welfare check call and piecing together the sequence of events that occurred inside the Lynwood apartment.

The case has drawn attention to the challenges facing child protective services in identifying at-risk children. The Department of Children and Family Services will conduct its own review to determine whether the family had any prior contact with the agency and whether warning signs were missed.

The Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau is asking anyone with information about the case to come forward. Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with neighbors, family members, or anyone who had contact with the family in recent weeks. Tips can be provided by calling 323-890-5500.

The three surviving children remain under the care and supervision of county social workers while authorities work to identify appropriate placement options. The agency is conducting assessments to determine their physical and emotional needs following their removal from the home.

As the investigation progresses, detectives will work with the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office to determine the exact cause and manner of the boy’s death. An autopsy is expected to provide crucial information about when the child died and what injuries, if any, contributed to his death.
