A murder-suicide at a McDonald’s in Moultrie, South Georgia, ended in the deaths of an employee and the shooter. Two of the shooter’s family members were killed earlier in the day.
On Thursday, May 4, security camera footage captured 26-year-old Kentavious White leading his manager, 41-year-old Amia Smith, to the door of the McDonald’s before shooting her. White then took his own life inside the fast-food chain.
Police discovered two more victims, both female relatives of White, at two nearby houses less than two miles away. They had been killed by multiple gunshot wounds. The victims were identified as White’s mother, Susie Arnold, 50, and his grandmother, Hilda Marshall, 74.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called in by the Moultrie police to lead the inquiry into the murder-suicide, a standard procedure for major crimes in the state.
A neighbor to the White family said that his wife heard gunshots before 1 am on Thursday. He also recalled an earlier incident in the week when White had fired a gun outside while shouting.
Police investigator Nathan Cato, as quoted by The Moultrie Observer, said that White had been involved in a gunfight with a man in his neighborhood during his lunch break on Tuesday. No injuries were reported in the fight. The AP News revealed that a former McDonald’s employee, 30-year-old Rahiem Rashad Kinsey of Moultrie, had been arrested and charged with aggravated assault and possessing a gun while committing a crime for shooting at White during the incident. Kinsey was in custody in Moultrie and remained in jail as of Friday.
