4 Dead, Many Injured in Kansas City Shootings

Four people have lost their lives and several others were hospitalized following two separate early morning shootings in Missouri on Sunday, June 25.

At around 4:30 am, the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) was alerted to a shooting at the intersection of 57th Street and Prospect Avenue. On their arrival, they discovered three bodies – two men and a woman – in a nearby parking lot and on the street.

“The three victims, two males and a female, were pronounced dead at the scene,” KCPD stated. They were identified as 28-year-old Jasity J. Strong, 29-year-old Camden M. Brown, and 22-year-old Nikko A. Manning. It was further noted that six other individuals, injured but in stable condition, had been taken to different hospitals either by personal vehicles or ambulances.

Based on early reports, a large gathering was occurring in the parking lot when the incident took place. An informal “after-hours” group often met at the site, in front of an auto mechanic shop. Detectives believe that many present at the scene could provide crucial information about the incident.

A man was taken into custody and the tragic events are currently being investigated by local law enforcement.

In a Facebook statement, Kansas City, Missouri’s Mayor Quinton Lucas conveyed his condolences to the families affected, adding, “If the business knew that people would be present, without security, selling alcohol, and circumventing our laws, that business should be closed.”

A separate shooting occurred near 31st Street around 3 am, where one victim was transported to the hospital and later died due to injuries. The condition and the number of other victims are yet to be confirmed.

A reward of up to $25,000 has been announced by the police for any information that can help identify and arrest the culprits of these incidents.
