The sudden death of Eva Evans, a 29-year-old TikTok star, has shocked her fans and the larger New York community.

Evans, who was known for her unique portrayal of city life on TikTok, was found dead in her Manhattan, New York apartment.

On the night of April 20, 2024, a friend who had not been in contact with Evans since the previous morning entered her apartment using a spare key, only to find Evans dead. Law enforcement sources have revealed that Evans was found hanging, in an apparent suicide. No signs of a struggle or unusual injuries were reported at the scene.

Upon discovering Evans, the friend immediately alerted the police and paramedics who pronounced her dead at the scene. The suddenness of the incident was particularly shocking to those close to Evans, given that the deceased had not shown any known signs of depression or emotional distress, according to the friend who found her.

A note was discovered near the scene, which law enforcement believes was left by Evans. However, the contents of the note remain undisclosed. Toxicology results are awaited to officially determine the cause of death.

Evans was a prominent content creator, widely recognized for her web series ‘Club Rat’ on Amazon Prime Video that delved into the modern dating scene in New York City. She had amassed over 300,000 followers on TikTok, where she regularly shared glimpses of her daily life and personal perspectives.

Lila Joy Baumgardner, Evans’ sister, publicly expressed her deep sorrow on social media. She noted the suddenness of the loss and the difficulty in coming to terms with her sister’s untimely death. “Even after 24 hours have passed, I’m still struggling with a constant cycle of disbelief and acknowledgment,” Baumgardner stated, expressing the ongoing struggle to process the loss.

Condolences have poured in from friends and celebrities alike. Actress Julia Fox, known for her role in “Uncut Gems,” paid tribute to Evans in a TikTok video, referring to her as a “New York icon.” Fox shared her grief and highlighted the potential Evans had yet to achieve. Lo Bosworth, a former cast member of “The Hills,” bid farewell to Evans in a comment on her last social media post, recognizing Evans’ kindness.

Despite not being publicly vocal about her own mental health issues, Evans had been an advocate for mental health. She had previously shared the story of her father’s suicide in 2018 through the organization ‘Don’t Mind Me’, thereby highlighting her personal connection to mental health awareness.

A memorial was held in lower Manhattan where family, friends, and fans gathered to pay their respects and bid farewell to Evans.

The news of Eva Evans’ death comes nearly a week after the loss of another well-known TikTok influencer, Kyle Marisa Roth, who was popular for her Hollywood gossip videos.
