9 Dead in Truck Crash

A vehicle collision between a truck and a passenger van on a national highway in the northwestern region of Ningxia, China, resulted in nine fatalities on Thursday morning, May 9, 2024. The accident also left two people injured, listed in stable condition at the hospital.

The crash occurred at around 7:40 a.m. outside Qingtongxia, a city in the Ningxia region. The Ningxia Daily, a state-owned publication, showed the extent of the damage, with footage revealing that the front end of the passenger van was completely destroyed. The scene of the accident was chaotic, with emergency services working tirelessly to attend to the victims and clear the wreckage from the highway.

An official statement to state media mentioned that the van driver was among those who died at the scene. The truck driver involved in the collision is receiving emergency medical care.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the specifics of the incident, aiming to uncover the sequence of events that led to the collision.
