Pop singer Camryn Magness has died at age 26 after being struck while riding an electric scooter in Miami, Florida. The incident occurred on Dec. 5, 2025, and her death was announced on Dec. 9 through her social media pages.
The Miami Beach Police Department received a call at approximately 7:52 p.m. regarding a collision involving an electric mobility scooter and a pedestrian. The scooter was operated by a male with Magness as a passenger. All individuals involved sustained significant injuries and were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center by Miami Beach Fire Rescue. Magness later died from her injuries at the hospital.
An investigation into the collision remains underway, and it is unclear whether charges will be filed. The identities of the other individuals involved have not been released to the public.
News of Magness’ passing was shared through an emotional statement on her official Facebook page, accompanied by a video of her scuba diving. “Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of our beloved Camryn, a radiant force whose voice, coy, and bright spirit touched so many,” the announcement read. The post continued to describe how she met life with fearless energy and boundless kindness, whether beneath the waves or on stage.
Born on July 14, 1999, in Denver, Colorado, Magness began her music career at the remarkably young age of 8. She recorded a demo and sent it to Jeff Pringle, who would become her manager and guide her through a professional career that spanned nearly two decades.
Magness gained initial attention through YouTube videos she posted of herself singing, which caught the eye of established artists in the music industry. Her early collaboration with the band Blessed by a Broken Heart on the song “Wait and See” later achieved broader recognition when it was featured in the 2011 film “Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer.”
The breakthrough exposure from her YouTube presence led to her first major touring opportunity in 2010, when she opened for Cody Simpson and Greyson Chance on their Waiting 4U Tour. She was just 11 years old at the time, demonstrating the exceptional talent that would define her career.
Magness’ career reached new heights when she was invited to join One Direction for their inaugural headlining tour, the Up All Night Tour, in 2012. The opportunity proved transformative for the young artist. She told Teen Vogue at the time that going into the tour as an unknown artist made it especially meaningful when people approached her saying she had done well.
The success of that first tour with One Direction led to another invitation the following year, when the band asked her to return for their 2013 Take Me Home Tour. These high-profile performances exposed Magness to massive audiences across multiple venues and helped establish her as a rising talent in the pop music scene.
Her touring resume continued to expand beyond One Direction. In 2016, she opened for Fifth Harmony on their 7/27 Tour, further cementing her reputation as a sought-after opening act for major pop groups. Throughout these years, Magness also released her own original music, including singles such as “Now or Never,” “Lovesick,” and “Machines.”
In 2021, Magness released her Love Maps EP, which showcased her growth as an artist and songwriter. The extended play represented her most recent major musical release and demonstrated her evolution from a child performer to a mature artist with her own distinctive voice and style.
According to her obituary, Magness was described as a gifted performer whose voice and music were extensions of her soul. Whether performing on stage, at family gatherings, or sharing songs with those who needed them, her music reflected her heart, courage, and endless creativity.
At the time of her death, Magness was engaged to Christian Name, described in her obituary as the love of her life. Together they were building dreams for a future filled with joy, partnership, and possibility, not only for themselves but especially for their two beloved dogs, Brooklyn and Zeppelin.
The statement announcing her death asked fans to keep her family and friends in prayer as they navigate this difficult time. Her mother, Sarah Magness, indicated there would not be a public memorial service held, but that Magness’ Instagram account would remain active as a place for fans to remember and mourn her.
Magness is survived by her parents, Sarah and Gary, her siblings Chelsea and Cable, and her fiancé. Her obituary shared that although her time with us was far too brief, her life was rich with purpose, and her spirit will live on in the many people she touched, the memories she made, the music she brought to the world, and the love that endures in her absence.
The loss of such a young artist with significant accomplishments in the music industry has resonated throughout the entertainment community. Magness’ journey from posting YouTube videos as a child to opening for some of the biggest acts in pop music demonstrated both her talent and determination to pursue her dreams from an early age.
