Barron Trump Romance Rumors Blow Up and the Internet Goes Wild

A New York Post columnist swiftly shot down speculation about a romantic relationship with Barron Trump after rumors spread across social media this week, giving the internet plenty to talk about.

Rikki Schlott, 25, made her position crystal clear on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, responding to a now-deleted X post that linked her romantically to the president’s youngest son. Her three-word reply: “That’s a no.”

The speculation appears rooted in two factors. Both Schlott and Barron, 20, have connections to New York University — he currently attends NYU’s Stern School of Business, while she previously studied history there before dropping out during the pandemic and later transferring to Columbia University. Additionally, Schlott described Barron as “hunky” in a December 2024 article, a comment that resurfaced more than a year later and apparently helped fuel the chatter, according to The Mirror US.

Social media users had a range of reactions to Schlott’s denial, first spotlighted by OK! Magazine. While some commenters suggested Barron “is out of her league,” others teased the journalist with remarks like “I bet you wish you were? lol” and “You would be so lucky.” Some defenders countered that Schlott was “too smart and pretty for him.”

Despite growing public curiosity about Barron’s romantic life as he settles into college, concrete details remain scarce. Neither he nor his family have publicly discussed his dating history.

A source told People in late 2024, “He’s really popular with the ladies. He’s tall and handsome. A lot of people seem to think he’s pretty attractive — yes, even liberal people like him.” NewsNation reported in May 2025 that “Barron has a really nice girlfriend and hangs out with her a lot.”

A darker chapter emerged in early 2026 when London’s Snaresbrook Crown Court heard details about Barron’s “very close” online friendship with a British woman. Her then-boyfriend, Matvei Rumiantsev, a Russian national and trained MMA fighter, drunkenly assaulted her on Jan. 18, 2025, after growing jealous of her connection with the president’s son. During the attack, Rumiantsev answered a FaceTime call from Barron and showed him the woman crying on the floor.

Barron immediately called 999, Britain’s emergency number, telling the operator: “I’m calling from the US. I just got a call from a girl… she’s getting beat up.” Police arrested Rumiantsev, and at trial, he described Barron as “quite persistent” and admitted he was “jealous to some extent” of the friendship. A jury convicted him of assault occasioning actual bodily harm on Jan. 28, and he received a four-year prison sentence.

Barron began his studies at NYU’s Stern School of Business in September 2024 after graduating from Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach. President Trump, 79, explained the decision at the time, saying, “I went to Wharton, and that was certainly one that we were considering. We didn’t do that. We went for Stern.”

First Lady Melania Trump, 55, commented during a December 2024 appearance on “Fox & Friends,” saying she didn’t think it was “possible” for her son to be a “normal student” given his family’s profile — though she added she was very proud of him.

While initial reports suggested Barron occupied an entire floor at Trump Tower, he has since relocated to Washington, D.C., with his parents and continues his studies through NYU’s Washington campus, according to RadarOnline.

Beyond academics, Barron is venturing into business. Florida and Delaware business filings from this past January show him listed as one of five directors in Sollos Yerba Mate Inc. The brand, SOLLOS Yerba Mate, plans to launch in May 2026, with its first product — a 12-pack in Pineapple + Coconut — already teased on LinkedIn.

Barron continues to be among the most private Trump family members, and Schlott has definitively stated she isn’t dating him. Based on this week’s rapid denial, the journalist has made clear she wants to stay out of speculation surrounding his personal life.
