In a horrifying incident on Tuesday, June 27, law enforcement in West Las Vegas found three bodies in an apartment, marking a case of triple homicide.
The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Spencer McDonald, was promptly arrested.
At around 9 am, responding to an urgent call, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police arrived at the scene. They discovered a 50-year-old maintenance worker who had been stabbed in the head but survived his injuries. The victim recounted to the police how McDonald had attacked him in the courtyard of the apartment complex, which is situated behind the leasing office.
Authorities arrested McDonald, who was armed with a weapon resembling a sledgehammer. The motive behind the triple homicide is not yet clear, but it has been revealed that two of the victims were residents of the apartment, and it’s believed they had some relationship with McDonald. Reports dating back a decade indicate that McDonald had been diagnosed with schizophrenia and had attempted suicide, requiring heavy medication. A neighbor, Victor Arce, described McDonald as a solitary figure who would often wander the complex in the early morning, muttering to himself with his head down. McDonald’s grandmother had moved in with him following his mental health diagnosis.
According to official sources, the leasing office had sent two maintenance workers to the apartment to perform a welfare check for unspecified reasons. Armed with their key, the workers encountered McDonald upon entering the apartment. While one worker managed to flee and alert the authorities, the other worker is suspected to have been killed within the apartment. The victims discovered at the scene included a woman in her 80s and two men in their 40s.
As the investigation continues, authorities are seeking to understand the motive and gather additional evidence related to the gruesome triple homicide.
