TV Star Dies Suddenly at 42

Chad Spodick, a contestant on the 2016 reality dating series “Finding Prince Charming,” died by suicide at age 42, according to a spokesperson for the Boca Raton Police Department. The confirmation came on Dec. 9, 2025, five days after loved ones announced his death through a GoFundMe campaign. The case remains open as authorities continue their investigation.

Spodick’s family and friends first shared news of his passing on Dec. 4, 2025, describing it as “sudden and heartbreaking” on a fundraising page organized by Kate Werbowski. The campaign was established to assist Spodick’s mother, Felice Harwood, with funeral expenses and ongoing living costs following the unexpected loss.

“Our hearts are shattered as we share the devastating news of the loss of our beautiful, kind, and generous son, brother and friend Chad,” Werbowski wrote on the fundraising page. “His passing was sudden and heartbreaking, and we are still struggling to comprehend a world without his light.”

The campaign organizer painted a portrait of someone deeply committed to others and to animal welfare. Werbowski described Spodick as someone who “poured himself into others” and worked tirelessly to encourage those around him to grow and advocate for themselves. His passion for animals was particularly notable, as he cared for four dogs and a bird named Cosmo.

“The world was brighter with Chad in it, and those who were lucky enough to know him felt the warmth of his heart every day,” Werbowski continued in her message to supporters. The fundraiser has exceeded its initial target, with over $27,000 raised to support Harwood during this difficult period. The funds will cover funeral arrangements, immediate living expenses, and continued care for Spodick’s beloved pets.

A memorial service has been scheduled for Dec. 14, 2025, at the Gardens of Boca Raton Cemetery and Chapel in Boca Raton, Florida. For those unable to attend in person, organizers have arranged for the service to be livestreamed, allowing friends and supporters from around the country to participate in remembering Spodick.

Spodick gained recognition through his appearance on “Finding Prince Charming,” which aired on the Logo network in 2016. The series, hosted by former NSYNC member Lance Bass, featured 13 men competing for the affection of Robert Sepulveda Jr. The show represented a milestone as one of the first all-gay dating reality series on television.

Spodick’s time on the program lasted six weeks before he decided to quit. Following his departure from the series, he later accused the lead, Sepulveda, of attempting to pursue him and other former contestants after filming concluded. Despite the brief nature of his reality television appearance, Spodick made a lasting impression on viewers and fellow cast members.

Beyond reality television, Spodick worked as both a flight attendant and a realtor. His career in aviation and real estate demonstrated his versatility and commitment to building connections with people. He also had earlier acting experience, appearing in several productions in the early 2000s. His credits included “Law and Order” and “Yards” in 2000, as well as “Boys of Sunset Ridge” in 2001.

Spodick’s last Instagram post appeared on Nov. 21, 2025, just weeks before his death. Following the announcement of his passing, the post became a gathering place for mourners. Comments flooded in from friends, family members, and fans sharing their memories and condolences. One commenter described him as “a great flight attendant, a good man, a lover of all animals, a good friend and son.”

The entertainment community has responded to news of Spodick’s death with expressions of grief and calls for mental health awareness. Reality television participants often face unique pressures related to public scrutiny and the aftermath of their time in the spotlight. As friends and family prepare to gather for the memorial service on Dec. 14, they remember someone who dedicated himself to uplifting others and caring for animals with unwavering devotion.
