Taylor Swift transformed the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards into a love letter to fiancé Travis Kelce, dominating on Thursday night’s ceremony with seven wins while the Kansas City Chiefs tight end beamed from the audience at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre.
The pop superstar, clad in a seafoam green Wiederhoeft ensemble featuring a crystal-adorned corset and velvet mini skirt, claimed the night’s biggest honors including Artist of the Year, Pop Album of the Year for “The Life of a Showgirl,” and Pop Song of the Year for “The Fate of Ophelia.” The ceremony marked the couple’s first joint appearance at an awards show since announcing their engagement in August 2025.
Swift walked the red carpet solo, but once inside the theater, she and Kelce were inseparable. When she accepted Pop Album of the Year, the 36-year-old singer gave an emotional shoutout to her future husband, who watched from the crowd in a black shirt and brown leather jacket.
“This album probably also feels very happy and confident and free because that’s the way that I get to feel every single day of my life, because of my fiancé, who’s here tonight,” Swift said during her acceptance speech. The 36-year-old NFL star mouthed “I love you” as she spoke.
Swift’s seven-win sweep made her the night’s top winner and extended her record as the most-awarded artist in iHeartRadio Music Awards history, bringing her total to 41 wins. She also claimed Album of the Year, Best Music Video, and Best Lyrics, all for “The Fate of Ophelia.”
The “Opalite” singer led all nominees with nine nods heading into the FOX-televised ceremony. Swift made clear the October 2025 album drew inspiration from both her fans and her relationship with Kelce, which began in the summer of 2023.
She credited fans for inspiring the album’s energy, telling the audience at the Dolby Theatre that “The Life of a Showgirl” was shaped by the connection she felt with crowds every night on tour, leaving her feeling “really happy and strong and confident and free.”
Swift also celebrated fans who made “The Fate of Ophelia” her biggest hit, calling it “the biggest hit of my career, which is crazy at this point.”
The couple’s romance started when Kelce attended Swift’s Eras Tour stop at Arrowhead Stadium in July 2023, attempting to give her a friendship bracelet with his phone number. After he publicly discussed the failed attempt on his “New Heights” podcast, Swift reached out privately. By September 2023, she attended her first Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears, and their relationship went public.
The two have since become fixtures at each other’s professional events. Swift attended nearly all of Kelce’s home games throughout his championship-winning seasons, while Kelce made a surprise on-stage cameo during her 2024 London show, appearing during her performance of “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.”
Thursday’s appearance marked Swift’s sole awards show outing in 2026 and her first at the iHeartRadio Music Awards since 2023. She accessorized her Wiederhoeft look with Jimmy Choo heels, a Spinelli Kilcollin diamond tennis bracelet, and dangly ombré earrings from Dena Kemp, completing the ensemble with her signature red lip and soft waves.
The couple mingled throughout the evening, photographed with other artists including Sombr and chatting with Swift’s father Scott Swift and Kelce’s mother Donna Kelce, who were both in attendance.
Other honorees at Thursday’s ceremony included Ludacris, who received the iHeartRadio Landmark Award, John Mellencamp with the Icon Award, and Miley Cyrus with the Innovator Award. Alex Warren took home Song of the Year for “Ordinary” and the Breakthrough Artist of the Year Award.
Earlier in March, Kelce signed a three-year contract with the Chiefs for his 14th season, ensuring he’ll be back on the field when the team begins training camp later this year. The couple reportedly plans to marry this summer before the NFL season begins.
Swift’s “The Life of a Showgirl” album has now produced three singles: “The Fate of Ophelia,” “Opalite,” and “Elizabeth Taylor,” which began climbing charts in March. The project represents Swift’s first studio album since completing her record-breaking Eras Tour, which concluded in December 2024 after becoming the highest-grossing concert tour in history.
