King Charles III wants reconciliation with Prince Harry and will set aside time for the Duke of Sussex, Meghan Markle, and their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet if they make a rare trip to Britain in mid-July 2026, royal experts claimed on June 18.
Any reunion would likely take place privately at a royal residence rather than in public view if the family visits the United Kingdom together next month, according to royal biographer Phil Dampier. However, Queen Camilla may find an excuse not to attend, and there is “no way” William and Catherine will participate in any gathering with Harry and Meghan, experts said.
The potential July visit would mark the first time in four years that Harry and his entire family have traveled to the United Kingdom together. Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, last saw their grandfather in person during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022. The visit would align with festivities marking twelve months until Birmingham hosts the 2027 Invictus Games for injured servicemen.
Dampier told the Daily Mail that Charles is eager for reconciliation with his son and longs to spend time with his grandchildren, though he would prefer any gathering remain private rather than risk it becoming a media spectacle.
The biographer expressed doubt about whether Queen Camilla would participate in any reunion. Dampier said it wouldn’t surprise him if Camilla has some family commitment to attend and avoids the Sussexes, noting that the Queen likely feels resentment over her negative portrayal in Harry’s memoir Spare. In his 2023 memoir, Harry wrote that he and William begged their father not to marry “dangerous” Camilla, and that he once feared she would become his “wicked stepmother.”
Any meeting between Harry and his brother Prince William appears impossible. Dampier stated there is now no way that Harry will meet up with William and Catherine. The brothers have not reconciled since Harry described in his book how William allegedly assaulted him during an argument, knocking him to the floor onto a dog’s water dish. Harry has made numerous other allegations against the royal family, including claims that Charles was jealous of Meghan and Princess Kate, and that Charles did not hug him when informing him of Princess Diana’s death.
Royal staff may be concerned that the Sussexes will exploit the visit for publicity purposes, particularly given rumors of a Netflix film crew potentially traveling with them to Britain. Dampier noted that cynics would say Harry and Meghan feel their star power in the United States has diminished and so they need an injection of royal magic.
The potential reconciliation comes after Harry and Charles took steps toward mending their relationship in September 2025, when they met for the first time in 19 months. Harry was reportedly seen smiling after the visit and told reporters the king was “great.” Charles is still undergoing treatment for cancer. According to sources who spoke to Page Six in October 2025, Meghan is aware that the couple needs the royal family and is supporting Harry’s bid to reconcile with his father on a human, personal level.
Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior working royals in 2020. Since then, their bombshell Netflix docuseries and Harry’s memoir Spare have aired multiple allegations against the royal family. The Duke of Sussex had previously expressed hopes of bringing his children from the United States to Britain but insisted it was too dangerous amid his legal fight over UK security arrangements. Sources indicate he now has confidence that proper safety measures will be arranged for the July trip.
Reports suggest the entire Sussex family—Harry, Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet—will travel to Britain together for the Invictus Games event. Whether the long-awaited private meeting between Charles and his grandchildren will actually take place remains uncertain, but royal watchers say the king is eager for reconciliation despite the years of public tension and the serious allegations leveled against the family in Harry’s tell-all projects.
