Jeopardy Host Makes Hilarious Plea to Fans

Ken Jennings knew the risk, and he took it anyway. The host of “Jeopardy!” posted a video to the quiz show’s official Instagram and TikTok accounts on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, in which he stood behind his podium on the Alex Trebek Stage and read aloud what viewers have been saying about him in the comments. A surprising amount of it was about his looks.

“Hey, this is Ken Jennings here on the Alex Trebek stage,” he said in the video. “They say to never read the comments, but I’m going to break that rule right now, and I’m going to read some of your internet comments about me.” Then came the disclaimer: “This is a mistake.”

The post carried a four-word caption: “You commented. He reacted.”

A Compliment and a Punctuation Question

The first comment set the tone. A fan called Jennings a handsome, cute, funny, smart, intelligent man and said his wife was very lucky, adding that it was too bad he wasn’t part of their “family” group. The host smiled and shook his head in disbelief — and then got stuck on the punctuation. “OK, why is family in quotes?” Jennings asked.

The next viewer was feeling territorial, writing that they didn’t need other people finding out that Jennings is “kind of hot” and staking a claim to him as their “hear me out,” internet slang for someone considered unconventionally attractive. Jennings smiled, chuckled to himself and slowly repeated the line back to the camera.

Even Andy Richter Joined In

The flattery wasn’t limited to anonymous viewers. Comedian Andy Richter, Conan O’Brien’s former sidekick, who has appeared on “Celebrity Jeopardy!” several times since 1999, kept his contribution to two words. “So hot!” Richter commented. Jennings wasn’t buying it, joking that Richter was only kissing up because he wants another invitation back to “Celebrity Jeopardy!”

From Flirty to Flat-Out Weird

Not every submission was a compliment. Jennings also fielded comments about the funny videos the show shares online, its quiz categories and fan art. One viewer wanted to know why the show’s “Pregnancy” category had skipped “Omegaverse,” a niche internet romance trope. Another posted artwork along with a note about nicknaming their cannabis vape pen “Pen Jennings.” He summed up the direction the submissions were heading as “weird and weirder.”

He signed off cheerfully, saying he loved the comments and loved that the show was effectively encouraging people to send in stranger and stranger material in hopes that he would answer them on camera. He praised the whole exercise as an excellent use of social media.

Jennings, 52, has been part of the “Jeopardy!” furniture for a while now. He began hosting in 2021, months after Alex Trebek died in 2020 following a battle with pancreatic cancer, and shared hosting duties with Mayim Bialik until 2023. He became the show’s sole host in December 2023. He has been married to Mindy Jennings since 2000, and the couple share two kids — which may explain why that stray set of quotation marks around “family” stopped him cold.

This isn’t the first time he has gotten a laugh out of his own promotional image. In September, Jennings shared an Instagram photo of his face on a “Jeopardy!” bus stop poster and joked in the caption that it looked like one of those 1990s sex thrillers starring actor Stephen Baldwin.

The game show returned for its 43rd season in September, fresh off a seventh straight Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Game Show. “Jeopardy!” airs weekdays and streams the next day on Hulu and Peacock. Whether Jennings opens the comments again is another question entirely.
