Trump’s Stunning Message After Death Threats

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene revealed this week that President Donald Trump sent her an “extremely unkind” message after she alerted him to death threats against her son, exposing a dramatic rift between the 51-year-old Georgia congresswoman and the 79-year-old president she once fiercely supported.

During a 60 Minutes interview with correspondent Lesley Stahl that aired Sunday, Dec. 7, Greene disclosed alarming details about the consequences of Trump labeling her “Marjorie Traitor Greene” after she broke with him on several key issues, including the release of Jeffrey Epstein files.

“After President Trump called me a traitor, I got a pipe bomb threat on my house,” Greene told the 83-year-old Stahl. “And then I got several direct death threats on my son.”

Greene confirmed the subject line for the direct death threats on her son read Trump’s exact words: “Marjorie Traitor Greene.” She said those threats were directly fueled by the president’s language. After receiving the threats, Greene contacted both Trump and Vice President JD Vance. While Vance replied saying he would look into the matter, Trump’s response was notably different.

When Stahl pressed Greene to describe Trump’s message, the congresswoman chose her words carefully while making her point clear. She said the president’s response wasn’t very nice and expanded by describing it as extremely unkind. Greene said she preferred to keep the exact conversation private but made clear Trump sent a harsh accusatory response with no sympathy after she forwarded the threats to him.

Greene also sent receipts of the threats to Trump, Vance, and FBI Chief Kash Patel. The congresswoman has reported 773 death threats since 2021, according to her account.

The 60 Minutes appearance marked Greene’s first major interview since announcing plans to resign from Congress. During the interview, she offered a striking critique of her Republican colleagues, claiming many of them ridicule Trump in private while remaining publicly supportive out of fear.

“I watched many of my colleagues go from making fun of him, making fun of how he talks, making fun of me constantly for supporting him, to when he won the primary in 2024, they all started, excuse my language, Lesley, kissing his ass, and decided to put on a MAGA hat for the first time,” Greene said.

Greene explained that her colleagues are terrified of stepping out of line and receiving a negative Truth Social post from the president. She suggested Republicans are watching what happened to her as a cautionary tale about the consequences of breaking with Trump publicly.

The congresswoman’s falling out with Trump began when she took issue with his focus on international matters rather than domestic concerns. Greene criticized Trump for serving what she called Israel’s interests, Big Pharma, and crypto donors instead of prioritizing American people.

Greene also broke with Trump over the Epstein files. Trump withdrew his endorsement of Greene and posted a screed on Truth Social calling her very dumb. On Monday, Dec. 8, he continued his attacks, claiming Greene is not America First or MAGA and calling her views those of a very dumb person.

During the interview, Greene renounced the MAGA label when Stahl asked directly. She said she now calls herself America First, explaining that MAGA is Trump’s phrase representing his political policies. When pressed on whether MAGA is over for her, Greene confirmed she identifies as America First instead.

The Georgia congresswoman also surprised viewers by apologizing for her role in toxic politics. She told Stahl that Washington has the most toxic political culture and admitted she contributed to it. When Stahl pointed out Greene’s history of inflammatory rhetoric, insulting people, and yelling, an exchange ensued where Greene accused Stahl of being accusatory as well.

Greene’s criticism extended to Trump’s domestic agenda priorities. She told Stahl that for an America First president, the number one focus should have been domestic policy, but it wasn’t. She argued that once everything is fixed at home, then the country can address international matters.

The congresswoman announced she would resign from Congress, stating she has too much self-respect and dignity to endure a hurtful primary campaign against her by the president she fought for. Her announcement came after her escalating tensions with Trump over policy disagreements ranging from healthcare to foreign policy priorities.
