Ford described the harrowing sequence of events in the Instagram post, writing that one moment he was en route to Germany for a show and preparing for a new single release, and the next his bus was in a ditch and first responders were extracting him through the broken windshield with a broken shoulder. Ford added, “The crew is a little banged up but we’re all still here.” Members of his crew sustained injuries in the crash, but everyone survived.
Ford had been scheduled to perform Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026, at Tailgate X in Ballenstedt, a town in central Germany located roughly 100 miles west of Berlin. As of the time of the surgery announcement, it was not immediately clear whether that performance would go ahead following the accident.

He went into cardiac arrest twice that day, underwent surgery for 10 hours, and remained in a medically induced coma for eight days. Ford later said he had no memory of his performance at the venue and only recalled walking back toward his tour bus before collapsing.
In a March 2025 interview with the Mayo Clinic, Ford said his top cardiologist told him he represented the “1% of 1%” in terms of how dire his situation was. He described waking up eight days later unable to lift a cup of ice to feed himself.
In the months that followed, Ford overhauled his diet and exercise habits, crediting his wife, Megan, with keeping him motivated to stay active. He told People in February 2025 that he had dramatically altered his eating patterns, replacing fast food with healthier options like grilled chicken and eliminating many of his favorite indulgences. He lost over 60 pounds during his recovery and called the transformation his “Rocky comeback moment.” Ford also said he believed his survival had a deeper meaning and that he planned to use his second chance to make a positive impact.
A Pioneer With Upcoming Dates Still on the Books
Before breaking into country rap, Ford spent roughly a decade as a professional golfer before transitioning to music. He built his name in the genre through collaborations and original work, including co-writing the Jason Aldean hit “Dirt Road Anthem,” as well as releasing his own tracks such as “Ride Through the Country” and “Workin’ On.” He has long been recognized as one of the artists who helped bring country and hip-hop together into a distinct sound.
Despite the crash and surgery, Ford has a performance listed at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, Iowa, on Aug. 19, 2026.
