Popular Actor Dies in Horrific Sidewalk Incident

Wenne Alton Davis, an actress known for appearing in the Amazon Prime series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, died December 8, 2025, after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. Davis, who was around 60 years old, sustained severe trauma to the head and body in the collision.

The incident occurred around 8:45-9 p.m. at the intersection of West 53rd Street and Broadway. A 61-year-old male driver operating a black 2023 Cadillac XT6 was making a left turn when the vehicle struck Davis, who was crossing the street. Emergency medical services transported Davis to Mount Sinai West Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver remained at the scene following the collision and was not injured. No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing by the collision investigation unit.

Born Wendy Davis on October 18, 1965, in North Carolina, the actress moved to New York City in her late 20s and began her entertainment career as a stand-up comedian before transitioning to acting. Edward Reynoso, Davis’s neighbor, shared a poignant detail about their final interaction hours before the fatal collision. Davis had told him, “I love you, I appreciate you,” during their last conversation that day. The exchange took on added significance in light of the tragedy that followed.

The actress was reportedly on her way to dinner to celebrate a successful audition when the collision occurred. Friends and colleagues described Davis as someone who remained passionate about her craft and looked forward to returning to her comedy roots while continuing to pursue acting opportunities.

Harris, who served as Davis’s agent, paid tribute to the actress on social media following news of her death. “No words yet, Only [love],” he wrote alongside a photograph of the two together. “Rest in peace, old friend. We will miss you forever.”

The Monday collision remains under investigation by New York City police, with no charges filed as of this report. The circumstances surrounding the left-hand turn that resulted in the fatal impact continue to be examined by the collision investigation unit.
